A Message from the Principal

October 6, 2025

Families,

Twenty days. That's approximately 200 shoes tied (and re-tied!) and just as many cups of lukewarm coffee left on my desk. Time has flown by! The energy in the building is focused and positive; we’ve truly hit the ground running. I am incredibly proud of the environment our students and staff have created. I want to share some serious—and seriously impressive—highlights from the start of the school year:

Academic Momentum & Targeted Support

We are thrilled to announce that we have successfully screened every single student in the building. This comprehensive effort wasn't just box-checking; it was a mission to become academic detectives! We now know precisely which personalized support each student needs to unlock their next academic superpower. As a result, all students have been placed into small, targeted intervention groups, ensuring every child gets custom support rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Record-Breaking Attendance (You're Rock Stars!)

The commitment from our families is truly outstanding. We have achieved a record-high attendance rate of 94% during these first weeks! Thank you for the superhuman effort of prioritizing consistency and getting those tiny humans out of bed and through the doors. Seriously, give yourselves a high-five—you’ve earned it.

Dive Into Enrichment

Our amazing partnerships are already in full swing! Our 2nd- and 3rd-grade students have officially begun their weekly swimming program with Asphalt Green, as we recognize the importance of this life skill. Next week, our partnership with Third Street Music School will kick off, bringing high-quality music instruction to the school. Get ready for some ambitious concerts!

As we sail into October, I'm already looking forward to one of my personal favorites: our annual Halloween Parade! Start planning those creative costumes now.

Thank you for being such a vital part of the PS64 family. We're having a blast, and we are excited about what we can accomplish together this year.

Warmly,

Kara
